About Mrs. Asbill!Hey guys! I am so excited to be teaching this year at Mills Park Middle School! I am extremely excited about being a part of the Bobcat team.
I graduated from North Carolina State University in middle grades ELA and Social Studies. After graduating I moved to the coast and taught 8th grade ELA. I then moved back to Raleigh to find a teaching job closer to home. I got married in May 2018 and we decided to buy a house closer to Cary which led me to Mills Park! |

Grading PolicyGrade Scale:
A 90 – 100 Excellent Achievement B 80 – 89 Good Achievement C 70 – 79 Satisfactory Achievement D 60 – 69 Minimal Achievement F Below 60 Unsatisfactory Achievement At MPMS, we believe in using a balanced grading system that incorporates a variety of assessments. We understand and value the fact that all students learn differently and we strive to create and maintain an environment in which every student will be successful. Students are graded on mastery of the objectives, not on organization or habits. The students's final grade for each quarter and semester will be determined by dividing the number of points the student earned on all assignments by the total points available. |
CurriculumI teach according to the NC Standards through the implementation of the EL curriculum provided by Wake County Public Schools. I add lessons that relate to students from different backgrounds while maintaining the integrity of the curriculum.

Cell Phone PolicyCell phones are allowed on campus and students are asked to follow our BYOD (bring your own device) policy for use of devices in the classroom for instructional purposes. Students are responsible for their own device and it should never be left on top of their locker, unsecured, or given to another student. We also suggest that devices are pre-loaded with an app that helps us find it when lost (find my iPhone or android device manager) and students should know how to access it. We also recommend that students place their name or an identifying photo of themselves on their lock screen to help us return lost or missing phones. Violation of this policy may result in the phone being confiscated and placed in the front office to be picked up by a parent. The parent must sign for the phone and present picture identification.
|
Absent PolicyIf your child is absent, a dated note explaining the absence is required upon your child’s return
to school. Without a note, an absence is recorded as unexcused. Once the student returns, they should see the designated missing work person and get their makeup assignments. Also, parents and students can check on the class website for the class agenda and homework daily. |
